Spring Flag is a five on five non-contact flag football game that runs in the VMFL during the months of April and May. Each team comprises of around six to eight players and games are played over five weekends with each weekend consisting of multiple games during the day. After the five weekends teams head to the provincial championships which take place over a full weekend in May.
There are now five age groups consisting of:
Spring Flag U10 (2007, 2008, 2009)
Spring Flag U12 (2005, 2006)
Spring Flag U14 (2003, 2004)
Spring Flag U16 (2001, 2002)
Spring Flag U19 (1998, 1999, 2000)
Where do I go to join?
Many of the VMFL associations put out Spring Flag teams. Last year Westside, Coquitlam, North Surrey, Cloverdale, Langley, Vancouver and South Delta all entered teams. Check with your local associations to see if they plan to participate this year.
Most associations take registration for Spring Flag in early March. The season consists of six weekends (either a Saturday or Sunday) of games at one park starting in April and running through May. Each weekend each team will participate in playing four games during one day on the weekend. The Provincial Championships are held in early June and consist of a round robin over two days where teams will play from four to more games.
