I hope everyone has dried out after our week 6 jamboree in Chilliwack. Regardless of the weather, the Chilliwack Giants always host a great jamboree and this year was no exception. A huge thank you to Josh Cahoon, Ian Parks and the entire Giants volunteer crew from field painters to golf cart drivers to the concession staff. Outstanding job!
As always, it takes a huge number of volunteers to make a jamboree successful and I am very thankful for every volunteer that helped all season long. A special thanks goes out to Valder Belgrave – VMFL Director at Large, Jayne Ogundehinde – VMFL Secretary, Jason Gillis – CCFA, Joe Connelly, VMFL Director, Becky Severy, ASYS, Chip Wilson, VWWMF Coach and several Chilliwack Giants coaches for stepping up to be field commissioners and keeping all games running as smoothly as possible.
Thanks to Derek LaCelle – CMFA Vice President and his many referees. Thanks to Kim Shuen for keeping the jamboree on schedule and also to Janis Clark for getting all of the scores uploaded by the end of the jamboree. Thanks to Glenn Pencer for being on site to assist with first aid this week. And once again and most importantly I would like to thank Rosie for taking care of the balloons.
And with that, we have come to the close of the 2016 VMFL Spring Flag season. When the VMFL first started Spring Flag there were a few Westside and Coquitlam teams and the jamborees fit on a few fields. In under 10 years we have grown to an astounding 182 teams from two leagues and we played 2090 games of football this season with 6 clubs hosting jamborees. I want to congratulate everyone who was a part of making this growth possible.
Stay tuned for information on the first 2017 Spring Flag meeting!
