Week 5 was another huge success. Thank you to Jim Head, NSMF “Spring Flag Guy”, Joe Connelly, NSMF Executive and their amazing crew for organizing and running the first jamboree hosted at Newton Athletic Park. A very special thank you goes to Jean McPherson, NSMF Secretary for keeping everything running behind the scenes. The food was good, the fields looked great and this was by far the best week for watching amazing football at every division. It’s wonderful to see how far these teams have come since week 1.
A special thanks goes out to Valder Belgrave – VMFL Director at Large, Paul Lancaster, VMFL Vice President, Susan Mowbray, VMFL Treasurer, Jayne Ogundehinde – VMFL Secretary, Gordon Francis, VMFL Head of Coaches, Jason Gillis – CCFA, Joe Connelly, VMFL Director, Corey Philpot, ASYS President, Becky Severy, ASYS, Shane Galloway, NDMF, Rob Frank and Shelley Frey, CMFA Executive and Kenn MCGuire and Alex Chambers, VWWMF Coaches for being field commissioners and keeping all games running as smoothly as possible.
Thanks to Derek LaCelle – CMFA Vice President and his many referees. Thanks to Kim Shuen for keeping the jamboree on schedule and also to Janis Clark for getting all of the scores uploaded by the end of the jamboree. Thanks to Glenn Pencer for arranging for first aid attendants from the Justice Institute to be on site to assist with first aid this week. And once again and most importantly I would like to thank Rosie for taking care of the balloons.
As this was our last week for regular season play for the U-19 division I want to wish all of the teams good luck in the Provincial Championships on May 29th in Richmond.
Just a reminder that there is no jamboree on this upcoming weekend. Please stay safe and enjoy the Victoria Day long weekend.
Our week 6 jamboree will be held at Exhibition Park and Townsend Park in Chilliwack. The schedule will be posted in the next few days and you can check out the standings after Week 5 games on the BCCFA website now.
