WOW. What a day we all had. It was great to see over 1800 athletes enjoying 352 games of flag football in gorgeous weather. I’m very proud of the great job that Westside did with hosting our first jamboree of the season at UBC. Thanks to Jayce Barrello, Mike Pauls and Sanjay Prasad and their army of VWWMF volunteers for keeping us all well fed and watered and arranging for Leo the Lion, the UBC Thunderbird along with UBC players and the Vanier cup to be on site for us all to enjoy.
A special thanks goes out to Paul Lancaster – VMFL Vice President, Valder Belgrave – VMFL Director at Large, Susan Mowbray, VFML Treasurer, Joe Carter – LMF President and his wife Lisa, Jayne Ogundehinde – VMFL Secretary, Jason Gillis – CCFA for being field commissioners and keeping all games running smoothly. Thanks to Derek LaCelle – CMFA Vice President and his many referees. Thanks to Kim Shuen for keeping the jamboree on schedule and also to Janis Clark for getting all of the scores uploaded by the end of the jamboree. Thanks to Glenn Pencer for arranging first aid attendants from the Justice Institute.
I also want to send out a personal thank you to all of the coaches for making my job easy. I was happy that there were very few coaching issues. Keep up the good work.
And most importantly, thank you to Kari Stewart – VMFL Director at Large for all her hard work in helping me with the planning, scheduling and in general keeping me in line all day and for helping me make the smiles and balloons happen.
Looking forward to Week 2 at Coquitlam – Saturday, April 23rd. Here is a link to the field map https://vmflfootball.files.wordpress.com/2013/07/coquitlam-town-center.pdf. The schedule will be posted by Tuesday evening. You can check out the standings on the BCCFA website now.
