60+ boys & girls had the opportunity to showcase the fun & skill of BCCFA 5 on 5 flag football at the BC Lions vs Edmonton Eskimos exhibition game on June 19th at UBC’s Thunderbird Stadium.  It was a beautiful summer collegiate Canadiana evening of football for the 6,117 people attending the game.  (http://www.vancouversun.com/sports/football/lions/Lulay+shows+ready+start+preseason+loss+Eskimos/11152310/story.html)
2015 U10 Provincial Champions – Coquitlam Siddoo played the Cloverdale Lions, 2015 U14 Provincial Champions All-Star Youth played Coquitlam Huish and the feature game of the evening was the All-Star BCCFA Girls flag football teams.

2015 BCCFA Spring Flag football Provincial tournament Thank You & Summary

The 2015 edition of the BC Community Football Association Spring Flag football Provincial Championship tournament saw 1500+ players on 141 teams completing 655 games within 29 hr period of time.  Kelowna  provided hot, dry weather & a venue for a spectacular weekend of flag football.  It was truly a gathering of the community of football – youth players, coaches & parents – that love the game.

A special thank you to BCCFA president, Joe Gluska, for your tired less work all year in preparing for the 2015 tournament.  From organizing the Russell/Spalding & Sandman Inn sponsorship packages, to securing funding from Tourism Kelowna resulting in the BCCFA’s ability to keep the tournament team entry fee at $155 per team.  Plus all of Joe’s preparatory work meeting with Kelowna Parks, Okanagan Sun Jr Football & enthusiastically promoting the event – all attending the tournament are grateful.

Thank you to Kelowna minor football (Dean Kennedy – Spring flag football, Kendall Gross – Spring flag football & Jeff Kolton – President) for again supporting hosting of the 2015 BCCFA Spring flag football  Provincial tournament at the Mission Sports Complex – Capital News Centre.   And a thank you to Sharla Davis (KMFA director of 1st Aid), Glenn Pencer  (North Delta past-president) & the rest of the local ‘1st Aid/trainers’ & food concession crew.  You kept all of us safe & fed.

A special ‘shout out’ to our referee’s.   Many worked full days with no breaks & often on their own.  Thank you to the contributing organizations KMFA, Okanagan Sun Jr football, VMFL, St FX, Queens, Concordia, Carlton, UBC & SFU.  I am so proud of how each referee demonstrated giving back to the game of football.
