The 2015 edition of the BC Community Football Association Spring Flag football Provincial Championship tournament saw 1500+ players on 141 teams completing 655 games within 29 hr period of time. Kelowna provided hot, dry weather & a venue for a spectacular weekend of flag football. It was truly a gathering of the community of football – youth players, coaches & parents – that love the game.
A special thank you to BCCFA president, Joe Gluska, for your tired less work all year in preparing for the 2015 tournament. From organizing the Russell/Spalding & Sandman Inn sponsorship packages, to securing funding from Tourism Kelowna resulting in the BCCFA’s ability to keep the tournament team entry fee at $155 per team. Plus all of Joe’s preparatory work meeting with Kelowna Parks, Okanagan Sun Jr Football & enthusiastically promoting the event – all attending the tournament are grateful.
Thank you to Kelowna minor football (Dean Kennedy – Spring flag football, Kendall Gross – Spring flag football & Jeff Kolton – President) for again supporting hosting of the 2015 BCCFA Spring flag football Provincial tournament at the Mission Sports Complex – Capital News Centre. And a thank you to Sharla Davis (KMFA director of 1st Aid), Glenn Pencer (North Delta past-president) & the rest of the local ‘1st Aid/trainers’ & food concession crew. You kept all of us safe & fed.
A special ‘shout out’ to our referee’s. Many worked full days with no breaks & often on their own. Thank you to the contributing organizations KMFA, Okanagan Sun Jr football, VMFL, St FX, Queens, Concordia, Carlton, UBC & SFU. I am so proud of how each referee demonstrated giving back to the game of football.
