BC Provincials Signal End To Big Season

2012-06-03-01bA record number of 70 plus teams competed in this years Spring Flag League here in the lower mainland in all the various levels including the new U10 division. Over the five weekend round robin days the teams competed in a multitude of games in order to hone their skills for the annual BC Provincial Championships.

First up were the U18 Provincials, held in Vancouver a week prior to the main Provincial weekend. With 14 teams competing it came down to Coquitlam versus Westside in a rematch of teams from a couple years ago. Coquitlam finished off the half up 18 points thanks to a last second touchdown and went on to hold their lead and take home the championship once again.

The following weekend the Provincial Championships for U10, U12, U14 and U16 were held up in Kelowna and featured an amazing 79 teams from all over the province including Prince George, Kelowna, Kamloops and of course all the lower mainland teams. As well there were the additions of two all girls teams thrown into the mix.

Congratulations must go out to all the coaches and players who participated over the two day event. As well a big thank you to Doug Pauls, BCCFA Spring Flag coordinator and all his volunteer staff and to Kelowna Minor Football for all their effort and volunteer hours in providing these kids the opportunity to have a fun packed weekend of football.
